RESIDENT'S TRUCK STOLEN FROM DRIVEWAY

A truck was stolen from the driveway of a Pasadena Estates resident sometime during the evening hours of November 18 or early morning hours of November 19. If you have any information about this crime, contact the Town of Davie Police Department at their non-emergency number, which is 954.765.4321.

The incident took place just across the street from a prior, unsuccessful attempt, by a potential intruder, to enter a house of another neighborhood resident. The perpetrator was apprehended due to the quick thinking of the resident.

While crime can strike at any time, Pasadena Estates residents need to take extra precautions. With no guard gate or regular security patrol, our neighborhood has been subjected to criminal activity by outsiders for years. There have been numerous incidents of intrusions into homes.

It is not always possible to keep your vehicle in your garage, but when you can, please consider doing so. Keeping garage doors open when you are away or at night is a dangerous practice. Leaving newspapers, mail and garbage containers outside your home for extended periods are signals you can avoid.

The Town of Davie Police Department offers help for those who are on vacation or away on business trips. The police website offers the Homeowner Vacation Watch Program, which can be accessed here.

The Police website also offers a daily bulletin of arrests, incidents and citations. It can be viewed here. A review of that database offers a good perspective of the criminal activity impacting the Town.

New False Alarm Ordinance In Davie

The false alarm ordinance for the Town of Davie was recently amended by the Town Council. The false alarm program will be managed by a private company, Public Safety Corporation. On-line registration is available for the public.

According to the Davie Police Department website, "The agreement furthers [Police] Chief Lynn and [Fire Rescue Chief] Montopoli's commitment reduce the number of false alarms responded to by both police and fire enabling them to better serve our community." The agreement will reduce Town staffing.

Public Safety Corporation (PSC) will provide customer support from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

According to the Police Department website, "All of Town of Davie alarm users are required to register their alarms under the ordinance. This includes all residential, business and government locations within the Town of Davie boundaries."

The new ordinance imposes increasing civil penalties for false alarms.

Look for the "Alarm Registration" link on the police and fire websites. Those registered will receive a user name and password to check their individual accounts. Here are the links to both first responder sites:
